Read More »Why is Middle C so important? Because it is the center of a kid’s musical universe. To them, a page of notes is a sea of ants with no rhyme or reason. And the piano keyboard is another mystery to them. Look at the drawing above. In what feels like a now regular occurrence, Drake adds another all-time Billboard Hot 100 record to his stacked resume this week, as he takes the title of the artist with the most top 10 hits in the chart’s 62-year history. With his featured turns on DJ Khaled’s “Popstar” and “Greece” arriving at Nos. 3 and 8, respectively, on the list dated Aug. 1, he outdoes Madonna, who had owned the record since 2002. (Madonna and Drake were tied for the then-most top 10s, 38 each, since May.) As Drake takes possession of one of the most prominent Hot 100 records, Billboard revisits the history of this specific feat, with a moving graphic tracing the acts who have visited the top 10 the most in the chart’s more than six-decade history. From Elvis Presley’s initial explosion through the near-untouchable gap that The Beatles created in the mid-1960s until Madonna and Drake came along, so many of the rock era’s biggest superstars – some unexpected, some obvious – jockeyed for positions on the leaderboard.
