“Rap God” by Eminem doesn’t make the top 10.

Rap music comes in many different styles and formats, but there is truly something special about the fastest rap songs. Not every rapper can rap fast, and artists like Busta Rhymes, Twista, and more on this list have built entire careers off their ability to do so. Others, like Eminem, simply keep it in their bag of tricks, ready to pull it out when it’s time to flex. However, you may be surprised to find that although Em has released plenty of speedy raps over the course of his career, none of his songs cracked the top 10. The speed of rap verses is often measured using syllables per second (or SPS), so we have used that metric to rank the songs included on this list. Read on to find out about the fastest rap songs of all time. 10. Twista – “Mista Tung Twista” (1992) When rapper Twista first entered the scene in 1992, he was known as Tung Twista, and he was one of the first to popularize the fast rap style. His debut album, Runnin’ Off at da Mouth had a little song called “Mista Tung Twista” that set the Guinness World Record for “World’s Fastest Rapper”. However, that didn’t last long, as you’ll learn later in this list. Speed: 11.2 syllables per second 9. Logic – “100 Miles & Running” ft. Wale and John Lindahl (2018) This one may seem like a surprise, as not many would consider Maryland rapper Logic, who only entered the scene in 2010, to be one of the fastest MCs, but his 2018 track “100 Miles & Running” has him doing some serious laps on the beat. The fastest part comes in the final verse, starting around 5:28.

Speed: 11.7 syllables per second

8. Busta Rhymes – “Break Ya Neck” (2001)

Although Busta Rhymes had a bit of a commercial flop with his 2001 album Genesis, he did release one of the fastest rap songs of all time as a single from that album. Be careful while listening to “Break Ya Neck”, lest you learn the hard way why Busta gave it that name.

Speed: 12.2 syllables per second

5. Tonedeff – “Crispy (192)” (2013)

Underground battle rapper Tondeff is known for rhyming circles around many of the game’s better known rappers, and not only when it comes to fast rap. His 2013 track “Crispy (192)” from his Demon EP does dip into the game of speed, however, and it’s impressively swift.

Speed: 14.1 syllables per second

4. Twisted Insane – “The Chop Shop” (2015)

One of the fastest rappers in the game is San Diego’s Twisted Insane, who has a number of songs featuring rapid rhymes, but “The Chop Shop” off his 2015 album Voodoo takes the cake for the fastest one he has released to date.

Speed: 15.7 syllables per second

3. DJ Lil Sprite – “Undaground Choppers 6”

Beatmaker DJ Lil Sprite has an ongoing collaboration between speed rappers called “Undaground Choppers” in which he crafts a beat and then assembles 10+ of the quickest MCs in the game to spit a verse over it. Volume 6 features 14 rappers, all of whom can throw down, but by far the fastest verse comes from Kansas City rapper Mizury Mize, starting at 5:42.

Speed: 19.9 syllables per second

Eminem’s Fastest Songs

It would be hard to get through a list of the world’s fastest rappers without giving some space to the most famous of them all, Eminem. He has a number of extremely fast rhymes, and many of them are extremely popular.

“Godzilla” ft. Juice WRLD (2020)

Eminem’s “Godzilla” was a massive international hit upon its release in 2020, featuring the first posthumous release from rapper Juice WRLD. Reaching the top of the charts in many countries around the world including Finland and Ireland, it was the number 3 song in the charts in the US. Guinness World Records recognized “Godzilla” for having the “Fastest Rap in a No. 1 Single”, a distinction that the track still holds today.

Speed: 10.6 syllables per second

Nicki Minaj – “Majesty” ft. Labrynth & Eminem (2018)

Eminem’s verse on the 2018 Nicki Minaj single “Majesty”, from her album Queen, is impressively quick, topping “Rap God” for his fastest verse at the time. This would later be beaten out by “Godzilla”, of course, but the fact that “Majesty” was a feature rather than his own song shows that Eminem was trying to flex. I would say that he succeeded in that.
