Read More »This page will help you determine the age of your older Kawai acoustic piano. The first step is to find the serial number of your instrument. The serial number identifies the year an instrument was manufactured and is the key to all future warranty service and repair (if needed). Its location varies depending on the type of instrument. For Kawai grand pianos, the serial number is found on the iron plate under the music desk on the right side of the piano (near the tuning pins). You may have to “slide out” the music desk to see it. For Kawai upright pianos, the serial number is located in one of two places: (1) the top right side of the iron plate (near the tuning pins) or (2) at the top center of the plate between the bass and treble sections. You can normally find it easily by lifting the piano lid. For Kawai acoustic hybrid pianos (K200- ATX3 and K300 AURES), the serial number is located at the top center of the iron plate under the Kawai logo. Although the serial numbers for Kawai digital pianos are not included chart below, it is still helpful to know where they can be found. The location of Kawai digital piano serial numbers also varies by instrument type. For console models (KDP/CN/CA/CS/CP/NV) and portable digital pianos (ES Series), the serial number is located under the “keybed” (the foundation for the keys) on the right side. For the MP Series professional stage pianos, the serial number is found on the back of the instrument.
