Alternatively referred to as the 10-key, number pad, numeric keyboard, numerical keypad, numpad, or ten key, the numeric keypad is a 17-key keypad on the far right side of a PC keyboard. A numeric keypad may also be a separate device that connects to a computer. The keypad allows an individual to quickly input numbers into a computer. For example, the keypad is often used for anyone who deals with numbers frequently or has to perform calculations with a software calculator. Tip To switch between the number and the directional functions of the keypad, press the Num Lock key.
