What kind of voice do guys like?

For guys, deep, husky voices are the most appealing, and scientists says it's because it indicates the perfect balance of being large enough to be attractive but not aggressive. For women, a high-pitched but breathy quality is the most attractive, and (blech) it's because it suggests a small body size.

The face, the body, and of course, the voice.

We've all got five senses (including ESPN or something), so it's understandable that we aren't just drawn to people we like the looks of. However, it appears that what's pleasing to our ears in terms of the voices of the opposite sex basically comes down to what it says about their physical appearance. So I guess what I'm trying to say is, we're all shallow and looks-obsessed, after all. Researchers claim to have determined the most attractive voices for men and women—and why the opposite sex finds them attractive. For guys, deep, husky voices are the most appealing, and scientists says it's because it indicates the perfect balance of being large enough to be attractive but not aggressive. For women, a high-pitched but breathy quality is the most attractive, and (blech) it's because it suggests a small body size.

It's interesting that men prefer a high-pitched voice, because previous research showed that both men and women lower the pitch of their voice when they want to show their attraction to another person. Hmm, does that mean that perhaps men are attracted to women who aren't actually attracted to them?

I don't know, but I do know I'm not putting on some phony high-pitched voice no matter how much it impresses guys. It may have worked for Marilyn Monroe, but it would not suit me. I will, however, talk in a very breathy tone when I'm (lovingly) making fun of Smash, which I do every Sunday when I catch up on my DVR, or any time I'm doing light exercise. Come on over then, dudes. It'll be hot.

Do you notice a guy's voice when you meet him? Are you into the deep, husky voices? Is your own voice higher or lower pitched? And be honest, do you totally hate hearing it recorded?

What do we call singing alone?

Performing a solo is "to solo", and the performer is known as a soloist.

en.wikipedia.org - Solo (music) - Wikipedia

Performance by a single musician

In music, a solo (from the Spanish and Italian based-word: Solo, meaning alone or by yourself) is a piece or a section of a piece played or sung featuring a single performer, who may be performing completely alone or supported by an accompanying instrument such as a piano or organ, a continuo group (in Baroque music), or the rest of a choir, orchestra, band, or other ensemble. Performing a solo is "to solo", and the performer is known as a soloist. The plural is soli or the anglicised form solos. In some contexts these are interchangeable, but soli tends to be restricted to classical music, and mostly either the solo performers or the solo passages in a single piece. Furthermore, the word soli can be used to refer to a small number of simultaneous parts assigned to single players in an orchestral composition. In the Baroque concerto grosso, the term for such a group of soloists was concertino. An instrumental solo is often used in popular music during a break or bridge to add interest and variety to a part of the song without lyrics.[citation needed]

History [ edit ]

18th century [ edit ]

In the Baroque and Classical periods, the word solo was virtually equivalent to sonata, and could refer either to a piece for one melody instrument with (continuo) accompaniment, or to a sonata for an unaccompanied melody instrument, such as Johann Sebastian Bach’s sonatas for violin alone.[1]
