Looking for some of the best sing along songs to while away the hours on a long road trip? Or maybe you’re looking for some fun karaoke hits to try out with your friends at a new local spot? With some of these top picks for songs to sing along to below, you’ll have plenty of go-to hits to turn to when in need (for whatever purpose). You’re probably familiar with those classic hits that almost EVERYBODY seems to know. If you just need a simple list of the top easy songs to try out, then we’ve got you covered. Also take note that having taken singing lessons or possessing an in-depth knowledge of singing isn’t required to have a good time with these songs, but this experience can certainly make you sound better!

Now, here’s the list of the 13 best sing along songs below:

1) Bohemian Rhapsody – Queen

Almost everyone you meet at the bar will be happy to sing along to this song! It’s a well-known staple everywhere in the world where people are singing, and for good reason! Even if you don’t know the words that come after “I see a little silhouetto of a man…” you’ll still give all of your singing passion and energy to the words that follow! This iconic hit is a personal favorite of mine, and one that I constantly come back to during long road trips with the family. We all seem to love it, and most of the rest of the world does too

2) Sweet Caroline – Neil Diamond

Tell me you haven’t heard a raucous round of “Sweet Caroline” followed by “Duh, Duh, Duh…” and I’ll tell you that you live under a rock! This classic hit is on repeat Boston Red Sox games and, over the years, it’s ingrained itself in the heads of almost every US citizen. Even though the “duh, duh, duh…” part of the song doesn’t technically exist, the part is always sang when singing along, so don’t feel like you have to stay true to the lyrics on Karaoke night if you feel like belting out the part!

3) Love Shack – B-52’s

A great duet song for a male and female to rock the stage, Love Shack is another timeless classic that is played on almost every karaoke night. It’s a great sing-along song that will never go out of style. This is a really good choice if the female singer is quite good, and the male is less talented (as he’s speaking more than singing).

4) Don’t Stop Believin’ – Journey

Possibly the number one most recognizable song on this list, Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’ is a timeless classic. It’s piano and guitar instrumentation makes it a great easy guitar song to learn, too. So the exposure that this hit has had over the years by being sung and played by budding musicians is immeasurable! Always remember to hold onto that feeling!

5) Hey Jude – The Beatles

A great slow-burn, slow song for karaoke singers to try at the bar is Hey Jude. Despite being slower, it’s still one of the most popular sing along songs that can be sung, and it’s overall quite a great pick. The ending sequence of “na, na, na, na na na na” is an unforgettable tune to an unforgettable melody, and will always be a great choice to sing. Really, any Beatles song could be substituted here though due to their iconic discography.

6) I Will Survive – Gloria Gaynor

“First I was afraid/I was petrified” — this line alone will cause anyone in the vicinity to jump in and start singing along with you! This is a hit that will never go out of style due to it’s uplifting, self-empowering nature. Everyone can identify with the bumps and bruises that life gives, so this iconic classic hit resonates in the soul of anyone who just feels the need to go on and be strong. You’ll never find a shortage of people to sing this song with!

7) Livin’ on a Prayer – Bon Jovi

“Whoa, we’re halfway there/Whoa! Livin’ on a Prayer” – The chorus of this song is what sells it as a great sing along song. If you pull this number out at karaoke night people will be chomping at the bit to get to the chorus to join in on singing it with you! Everyone wants to feel like they’ve arrived and many can identify with the song’s lyrics. See a pattern here?

8) I Want It That Way – Backstreet Boys

This iconic megahit is a timeless soul ballad. Funnily enough, the lyrics don’t necessarily make the most sense, due largely to the Swedish production and songwriting (Max Martin simply didn’t have a solid enough understanding of the English understanding). However, the song does have one of the most famous pop music choruses of all time! There are quite a few songs out there that don’t seem to make a ton of sense when you play the lyrics back, but you can’t just help getting caught up in singing along when the music plays, and this tune embodies this perfectly!

9) Stand By Me – Ben E. King

When you’re in a groove with friends singing along to some of the most popular songs, you can’t forget to bring up a classic teary hit! This song has been covered hundreds of songs across a wide variety of genres, but the 1961 classic itself is best in my opinion. This song simply transcends the “pop romance” subgenre, and has undeniably embedded itself into the annals of pop history. It’s simply one of the best songs for you and the crew to try.

10) Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) – Eurythmics

There’s a chance you’ve heard the Marilyn Manson version of this song, and for good reason! It’s one of the more popular songs on this list! This 80s track is built around intersecting synth wave riffs, and the original as well as the cover are both extremely recognizable. Never a dull option to get the karaoke crowd jamming when you step on stage!

11) Rehab – Amy Winehouse

This song is straight up and in your face. “They tried to make me go to rehab, but I said no, no no!” While maybe not the best option to play if you have little ones or are a bit sensitive to the subject matter, it’s definitely a bar classic. This song definitely requires a bit of adult beverages in your system to really get into, but most will sympathize when you start to sing it! Trust me, if you’re out at the local pub and bang out this sympathetic track, people will start singing along with you!

12) Say it Ain’t So – Wheezer

Ah yes, the 90s! This track is a darling of the era surrounded with moody Nirvana tracks and other alternative and indy feels. With it’s god-like guitar riff and entrancing lyrics, rock guitarists and vocalists alike will rejoice when this song is tuned up. It’s simply one of the best easy karaoke songs that you’re going to be able to request due to its fabled popularity and fanbase. However, you may have an issue holding the microphone as you’ll be definitely required to play the air guitar during the riffs!

13) (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party) – Beastie Boys

To cap off this list I wanted to include an energetic, crowd pleaser into the mix. What’s great about this track is that the bar is SO low. You don’t have to be a great singer or musician to really belt out and execute this track flawlessly. This means that everyone in your vicinity will feel confident enough (if they’ve had those aforementioned adult beverages that is) to sing along to this great hit song by Beastie Boys. The track has no rules and should be sung with high energy and a gaggle of people, which makes it literally one of the greatest sing along songs of all time! That does it for the list here. Many ultimate pop, rock and indie hits are included, to give yourself a bit of flavor and freedom in the tracks you choose. The number one thing to remember is to have fun and let loose when you perform the tracks. Don’t care too much about how you’re coming across, because chances are everyone will just be excited that someone is jamming out and going hard. Remember these hits the next time you need a song to sing along to!
