Read More »Chipped, or Transponder, keys are keys that have an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) chip inside the head of the key. These types of keys have become an industry standard for vehicle manufacturers. This is because the RFID chip adds an extra layer of security to your vehicle’s ignition. When a key is inserted into the ignition of a car with an immobilizer system, the car verifies that the RFID chip is present in the key and is programmed to the car. The immobilizer system is what will stop the ignition from allowing the car to be started should a key not be recognized by the car. Immobilizers work in a variety of ways. Some immobilizers will not allow the engine to crank at all, some will allow the engine to crank, but the immobilizer will not allow fuel to be injected into the motor making it so the car will never start. Another type of immobilizer system will even start the car for a couple seconds but will shut the car engine off after that brief period. The thing they all have in common is that they will not allow a car to run without the proper chipped or transponder key present. If a chipped key has been programmed into the cars computer system, the car will start when the ignition is turned and will stay on. If you own a car that has been made in the last 20 years, it is likely that your car key has a transponder chip inside of it. If your car has been made in the last 10 years, it is almost a guarantee that your car key has a transponder chip. These Transponder keys help keep your personal property safe by making sure that no one can start your car except for you. Beishir Lock and Security carries a large assortment of transponder keys for your automobile needs at fractions of the cost of car dealerships. Not only that, but we are also capable of making these keys from scratch at your vehicle should you lose all your keys.

For a longer key, such as the spacebar key, try to pry as close to the center of the key as possible. In many situations, the key only snaps out partially.
