As the latest season of Love Island continues, one question might be plaguing the minds of many of the shows' fans. Just what is it that the contestants eat while they are in the villa?

The reality show is carefully curated on many levels. Nonetheless, the precise diet of the contestants still remains a mystery. Islanders are responsible for making their own breakfasts on the show in the morning - sometimes preparing them for their partners too if they're in the doghouse. Nonetheless, lunch and dinner are a different matter entirely. In fact, there is a catering kitchen situated near to the villa which makes food for both the contestants and the production team working on the show. Meal times don't appear on the show because it is used as downtime for the contestants to allow them to have a break from the cameras. Producers also use meal times as an opportunity to go over the plans for the show with islanders. Former contestant Olivia Attwood told the Sun that very little drama happens at meal times and it is usually more focussed on mundane matters to help the villa run smoothly. The kitchen is also stocked with snacks and the contestants can request what they would like. Former contestant Anton Danyluk told The Sun: "You get to eat a selection of food and it’s lovely food. You do get to choose what to eat, and it all comes in separate containers." One sticky topic is alcohol, as producers don't want contestants drinking too much while they are in the villa - for obvious reasons. Some islanders have claimed that they are only permitted two drinks a day while in the Villa. Nonetheless, producers have claimed that there is no official set limit on alcohol consumption on the show. Instead, they judge it on a case-by-case basis. This doesn't mean islanders can drink as much as they want, however. Producers have said they are very careful to make sure that no-one has too much.
