Were these keys favorite to him? The answer to this suggests that it is not a product defect as some of you might think, but it is a ridge that remains on the same keys in every keyboard. These keys are known as the home row.

Positioning your fingers well on the keyboard

According to the report published on the Interesting Facts and Information (IFAI) portal in April 2016, these ridges are to help us position our fingers correctly so that we are able to type without looking at the keyboard. It also improves our typing speed if we balance our hands correctly using these ridges and this makes easier to use the keyboard.

Who invented these ridges?

These ridges in the keyboard were invented by June E Botich in the year 2002. Almost all the modern keyboard models now come with this feature after the invention.

These keys are referred to as the home row

How to type on a keyboard with the help of F and J? Place the index fingers of your left and right hands over the ‘F’ and ‘J’ keys respectively. With your index fingers on the two ridged keys your left-hand covers A, S, D, and F. The right side covers J, K, L, and colon and both the thumbs should rest on the space bar.

Which country owns Casio?

1946 – Casio Is Founded In Japan But while Casio is synonymous with watches, the company didn't actually begin life selling timepieces. Casio was founded in 1946 in Japan in the aftermath of World War II. The founder, Tadao Kashio, started out by producing mechanical parts.

In 1600s Europe, clockmakers began experimenting and producing smaller, more portable spring-driven clocks that evolved into watches. They could be carried easily, although of course, they were very expensive, so they weren’t exactly common.

Portable clocks in the form of wristwatches, but more commonly, pocket watches, became popular in the 19th century when they could finally be mass-produced and marketed. The practicality of the wristwatch became apparent, and by the 20th century, it was the most common watch on sale.

The next big leap was the invention of the Quartz watch, which is the design used today by Casio watches. This was first produced properly in the early 20th century, but wouldn’t be in mass production until the 1980s. Casio was, in fact, one of the first companies to begin successfully marketing the Quartz watch.
