Smells Like Teen Spirit is the opening track and first single from Nirvana’s second album ‘Nevermind’. It is often quoted as being the song that brought grunge to the mainstream. Kurt Cobain stated that when writing the song he was trying to imitate one of his favorite bands – The Pixies. He aimed to write the ‘ultimate pop song’, and this is perhaps why it went on to become such a phenomenal mainstream success. The song sounds huge, and is a ton of fun to belt out.
