Is there only one bathroom in the Love Island villa?

The toilet situation There are two toilets in the villa - one upstairs and one downstairs - and no cameras inside. There are no neon lights or quirky 'crack on' signs in here. Seeing as the toilets are completely off camera no effort is made to continue the Love Island theme.

A new series of Love Island is just around the corner, and that means a summer of coupling up, cracking on, and more shock dumpings. But this series also brings a bit of a fresh surrounding with a brand new villa. And even though this year's sexy singletons will be heading into new surroundings, it has still kept those all familiar features. This means there's still the swimming pool, the sunloungers to chill out in and those all important places to pull someone for a quick chat. But ahead of Monday's launch show, the Mirror's Jessica Gibb had chance to get a sneak peek inside the new villa to find out what it's all about. And it turned out there were bits about the new villa that surprised Jessica.

The toilet situation

The toilets are never really shown on Love Island. So Jessica made a beeline to the loos to check on the bathroom situation. There are two toilets in the villa - one upstairs and one downstairs - and no cameras inside. There are no neon lights or quirky 'crack on' signs in here. Seeing as the toilets are completely off camera no effort is made to continue the Love Island theme. Instead, there are bare brick walls and a modest toilet and sink with a big bin.

The cameras are at eye-level

Jessica knows the Islanders are filmed 24/7 but always assumed they could easily forget about the cameras after a while. She was shocked to see that most of the cameras are almost at eye-level to capture the action. In each corner of every room there's a remotely controlled camera that can pan to capture their every movement. And they cover every inch of the villa both inside and out to make sure no snog or argument goes uncaptured.

The heat

With average temperatures of 26-29°C over June and July, Majorca is certainly scorchio while Love Island is filming. But the villa is a complete suntrap with little shade to escape the sun's glare. The hottest spot is the balcony off the dressing room where the girls tend to congregate in the morning. But this year they've added a day bed under the dappled shade of a tree and two sun loungers in the pool for Islanders to cool off.

How remote the location is

The view from the villa is flawless. You can't see another building or even a road as you look out over the infinity pool. Of course we're sworn to secret on the exact location, but we can say it's down a rather long dirt road.

How close all the chat areas are to each other

The villa might look expansive on TV but the Islanders will need to do some serious whispering to avoid being overheard. The space between the bean bags, the day bed and the fire pit is quite small. So not a lot can go on in the villa without everyone knowing.

There are no windows

The Love Island villa is a set built into a historic Spanish villa. As such the walls are built up inside the stone walls of the villa so there's space for all of the wiring to be hidden from view. It looks very clean and minimal but the blow back is there are no windows in the villa.

It's claustrophobic

The rooms are expansive and there's plenty of space for everyone to get ready in the dressing room this year. But the corridors and hallways of the historic villa are very tight and it doesn't feel like there's anywhere to hide. It's easy to see why tensions run so high when it all kicks off...
