Is higher cc or lower cc better?

If a bike has more CC, then it will have a bigger cylinder which can digest more air and more fuel. This natural process will help in burning more fuel per stroke and would ultimately lead to producing more power as well as more torque.

Almost everyone has a dream of having their bike and cherish a dreamy ride over them. But one of the most common things we get to hear while talking about these bikes is the speed and its connection with the ever famous term "cc". Most of us think that the cc of a motorcycle is not necessary when it comes to buying a regular bike and does not consider them before purchasing any two-wheeler. However, this approach is not valid, we must have a general idea about what is cc in a bike before buying them as CC in the bike is an essential feature to be taken into consideration before sealing the deal.

What is Cylinder Capacity (CC) in Bikes?

CC in bikes stands for Cylinder capacity or the cubic centimeters capacity of the combustion cylinder, which is an integral part of the engine whose prominent role is to supply the power to the driver. If a bike has more CC, then it will have a bigger cylinder which can digest more air and more fuel. This natural process will help in burning more fuel per stroke and would ultimately lead to producing more power as well as more torque. Following the procedure, the engine completes one cycle after all the combined capacity of the cylinders which is often referred to as engine capacity.

How Engine Capacity affects CCs Performance?

Various Engine outputs like power, torque, and mileage are calculated with the help of engine capacity. If the engine has a higher position, then it means that it will have more space inside the cylinder. The volume of the fuel and the air inside the air is always in proportionality. The power output will be increased as the amount of fuel burning inside the tank increases. Or we can say that the amount of production is proportional to the amount of fuel consumption and the engine capacity, but an increase in fuel consumption also leads to a decrease in the mileage. For instance, there are several high engine capacity Bajaj 100 CC bikes supporting slightly higher CCs.

Since cylinders of the engine look like a container, it can be of any shape like wide but short or narrow but deep. There are over square drivers who are commonly known as short strokes or big bores and the long stroke or under square engines which are also known as latter engines. Big bores engines come with the broader diameter pistons which help in moving up and down at a higher speed that leads for higher rpm because it has to travel less distance, so it makes better power at higher rpm as compared to torque. But when it comes to long-stroke engines where the piston is narrow as compared to big bores, it travels more towards one direction vertically which helps in producing higher torque at lower rpm. As the fundamental study of physics clearly states that energy can neither be created nor be destroyed, it can only be transformed. The spark plug present in bikes fires in the engine then the potential energy in the fuel is converted into heat energy. The heat energy and the resultant pressure created in the engine push down the piston, which creates physical strength in the form of linear motion. The Crankshaft is then used to convert this transformation into rotational motion from the linear motion which rotates at very high speed and sends this twisting force to the clutch and gearbox which further moderates it and send it to the rear wheel. Practically a 1500 CC bike will produce more power 100 CC bike. But a 500 CC short strokes can make more power than 800 CC long stroke.
