How often do they wash the sheets on Love Island?

A cleaner comes into the villa once a week to give it a spruce up and change all the bed sheets. How much alcohol do they drink on Love Island? The cast are allowed around two drinks each per night to monitor their consumption.

The past 12 months have been really muggy but summer is looking far more positive, especially now Love Island 2021 has been confirmed. After being cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, Love Island is set to make a return to ITV2 in June and show bosses promise it will be bigger and better than ever. We are ready. Producers have promised "more texts, fire pit gatherings and challenges" with "lots of twists and turns along the way, with shock recouplings, unexpected splits and dramatic exits" for Love Island 2021. Insiders are reporting that the show's bosses are going to invest huge sums of money to make this year's edition go ahead and be a major success. Spain's decision to let British tourists return to the country looks set to pave the way for Love Island to take place in Mallorca, despite Jersey being mooted as a back-up option. You can read our definitive guide to Love Island 2021 in our hero feature but if you're just as intrigued as we are by what goes on behind the scenes on TV's hottest show and want the inside scoop, stay right here because we have answers. I pride myself as a bit of a Love Island veteran, having flown out to Mallorca and Cape Town for the past few years to have a sneak peek at the villa, meet the show's brilliant producers, grill Laura Whitmore and, of course, meet the batch of islanders. Whilst access to this year's villa is currently off limits, I've learnt some pretty interesting - and shocking - insider secrets over the years and the producers follow a similar formula each year. So if you care as much about Love Island as I do (which you probably don't want to admit), here's all the cast secrets I've learned over the years as Love Island's super sleuth (and yes, there really are hundreds of condoms!).

Are the Love Island cast head-hunted?

A lot of the Islanders in the past have been head-hunted by producers or talent scouts via Instagram. Whilst the twins (Eve and Jess from 2019) were scouted on Instagram and Nas from the same year was spotted via a YouTube video he starred in, the vast majority of the islanders actually apply to be on the show. Although most people leave the villa with lucrative clothing deals under their belt and millions of Instagram followers, the producers are old romantics at heart and just want contestants looking for love. Sophie Piper told us she wanted to go on the show because she'd been single for '500 years', whilst Niall from 2018 told us: "I made a little video of me basically saying I'd DMed everyone in the city to no avail so now I need to get on the Island to get some action. Obviously they must have agreed with me so I'm here now." Every islander has to make a video of themselves to get a place on the show. Laura Anderson from 2018 maintains you should pull out all the stops – because producers told her that her entry was the best of the year.

Do Love Island get nails done?

Love Island's host Laura Whitmore also told OK!, 'on Saturday, when there is no show on, their eyelashes and acrylic nails get redone,' a fact former Love Islander Kady McDermott corroborated when she told the same title that she'd had her nails done while inside.

Do Love Island contestants get taken to secret beauty appointments during filming? It's the question that now continues to raise its head season after season. It's not something that was ever pondered in the vintage years. Viewers became used to seeing Islanders looking increasingly bedraggled as the series progressed, as bleached roots grew out, as false lashes fell out and as acrylic nails came off. Someone's definitely shaken things up in recent years though. Remember when Dani Dyer's hair changed colour completely mid-season-four? When Molly-Mae appeared on screen with countless fresh new manicures in season five? Or when Millie Court's HD brows returned for the finale of season seven?

Do Love Island contestants get manicures and beauty treatments during filming?

Something's definitely afoot, and a few Love Island insiders have broken their silence on the subject recently, too. Season five's Lucy Donlan, for example, said in an interview with Capital FM, 'Every two or three weeks we’d have nails, hair, that kind of thing done. And we’d get a Maccies as well.' Consider your suspicions officially confirmed. Love Island's host Laura Whitmore also told OK!, 'on Saturday, when there is no show on, their eyelashes and acrylic nails get redone,' a fact former Love Islander Kady McDermott corroborated when she told the same title that she'd had her nails done while inside. Whitmore also noted that while she's unsure whether spray tans were part and parcel of the secret beauty treatment shebang, the islanders definitely faked their summer glows regularly inside the villa. She told OK!, 'I always thought [ the dressing room ] must be really messy, and they had this blue carpet and it was stained with fake tan everywhere and I was like, "I knew it!"'.
