Read More »Prices listed do not include tax. Please note that travel outside of Davis county may require an additional mileage charge. A Full Service Piano Tuning is $150 plus tax. This includes inspection and adjustments as well as minor repairs. It also includes adjusting the pedals, tightening the bench, and other diagnostic inspections. A pitch raise, if necessary, is an additional $30. (If a piano hasn't been tuned for a few years it will usually have dropped in pitch. In this case it will need a pitch raise before it can be effectively tuned.) Other repairs (hammers, keys, pedals, etc.) are billed at $75 per hour. Major repairs, regulation, etc. will require a bid after seeing the piano. Broken Strings. Broken strings repair cost is $50 for the first string and $20 for each string thereafter, plus the cost of the string (treble strings range from $4 - $10, bass strings range from $25 - $40). Please be aware that replaced strings may require a follow-up visit within the next few weeks or months to retune the new string as they drop dramatically in pitch after being installed. Repairs are billed at $75 per hour (if no tuning there will be a minimum charge time of 1 hour) plus parts. This includes various repairs (broken strings, keys, pedals, etc.) *Call me for costs relating to major repairs such as keytop replacements, regulation, hammer replacements, voicing, complete string set replacement, pin tightening, etc. These costs usually require a visual inspection as there can exist other hidden factors or needed repairs affecting their function. Piano cleaning--Grand pianos $129, Upright pianos: $99; A thorough and professional interior and exterior cleaning includes removing the action and completely cleaning the cavity, sound board and frame area, all action parts and keys. Recommended for every quality piano at least every five years! Inspection and informal appraisal: $75 (usually done when evaluating a piano for purchase) Formal appraisal: $120 (for inheritance, insurance, etc.-includes a formal written evaluation & cost comparisons. I'll bring the piano back up to concert pitch ("A 440") where it will sound its best and "match" other instruments and audio recordings! In extreme cases the piano may require two pitch raises to avoid over stressing the keys. Antique or very old pianos may be better served tuned at a lower key without the pitch raise to avoid breaking strings. We can discuss this when I see the piano. Regulating: Cost varies from $250 - $500 depending on needs: From minor adjustments to a complete re-setting of piano action parts to factory specifications, piano regulating is necessary in ALL pianos at some point to keep them sounding and playing their very best. Cost may be even higher with pianos that are extremely worn or require replacement parts. Player Pianos: A Player Piano tuning is an additional $60 on top of the regular tuning fee. Please note, I do not do any other service on player pianos (the old fashioned scroll type) beyond tuning.
