Both beginners and experts need to practice piano regularly as it helps you retain the knowledge you have gained and allows you to build upon it. Without consistent practice, you could risk forgetting what you have already learned, which means you lose out on hours of dedicated time and practice. Your skills at playing the piano are a lot like a muscle in that you have to keep working in order for them to remain strong. Most piano teachers recommend practicing anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours daily. To facilitate this, consider making a schedule for when you'll play and for how long. For instance, one day you may only be able to fit in 20 minutes, but the next you might be able to compensate by practicing 40 minutes. What matters most is that you stay dedicated and consistent with your playing.

Know Your Goals

The amount of time you practice and the songs you learn often depend on what goals you have.

As such, ask yourself, do you want to learn piano for fun or to play for others? Do you want to write your own music or solely learn well-known songs?

It is incredibly important that you are aware of your goals and why you are choosing to learn the piano in the first place. The reason for this is because it will help create a schedule tailored to achieving your specific goals. For example, if you want to learn piano as a hobby, you may only need to dedicate about 30 minutes of study daily or every other day.
