The new P70: lightweight, heavy sound.

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Yamaha's new P70 Contemporary Digital Pianos offer the experience of playing a grand piano – without the expense, and without the weight. At 28 pounds, the P70 is the lightest P series digital piano ever, yet quality has been upgraded with the new Graded Hammer Standard weighted action, 10 voices, and 50 built-in songs. The P70 replaces the P60, and also includes Advanced Wave Memory stereo samples of a Yamaha concert grand piano and a pair of dazzling 6-watt amplifiers."Our legendary roadworthiness and durability make the P70 ideal for permanent or portable applications," says Dane Madsen, marketing manager, Yamaha Digital Pianos . "Yamaha is the only significant digital piano manufacturer that also produces fine acoustic pianos, and that experience can be heard and felt in the P70."The P70 Series features 88 weighted piano-sized keys, 32 notes of polyphony and 10 of Yamaha's best keyboard voices, including Grand Piano, Strings, and Pipe Organ. The 50 built-in songs, drawing from standard repertoire, can play continuously for study, or simply for your listening pleasure. Digital reverb and dual voice mode add to the tonal shadings, while the Graded Hammer Standard action replicates the feel of a real acoustic keyboard.Bundled accessories include an adjustable music rest, AC adapter and model FC5 sustain pedal. An optional FC9 volume pedal is ideal for controlling the output of external amplifiers and the FC3 continuous sustain pedal takes advantage of the P70’s half-damper feature which elevates pedaling beyond simply ON or OFF.The P70 is also compatible with the PC Music Kit (sold separately), which connects the instrument directly to the Yamaha LC2 music teaching lab and to any Windows computer to facilitate learning, recording and notating music. In addition to high-quality sound and feel, the P70 series has a sleek, contemporary appearance. Two low-profile models, the P70 and P70S, are available in Black with Dark Oak (P70) or Silver with Light Maple (P70S) finishes, and an optional matching-finish stand is also available ($150 MSRP)."The quality of the P Series digital pianos keeps improving even as prices go down," says Madsen. "Everyone from entry-level consumers to semi-professional players can get a great instrument at a more affordable cost."The P70 and P70S are currently available. For more information on the upgraded headphone line, write Yamaha Corporation of America, Pro Audio & Combo Division, Digital Pianos, P.O.
