The group were integral to the development of 1960s counterculture and popular music’s recognition as an art form. In their early years, the Beatles used a variety of different guitar picks, including those made of celluloid, tortoise shell, and metal. They eventually settled on a style known as the “Mexican” pick, which was made of a thin sheet of celluloid with a hole in the center. This type of pick allowed the Beatles to achieve a distinctive sound that was a key component of their signature sound. What was the Beatles’ “official” song choice?
